Meet Linda, our Governance and Compliance Lead, who provides independent oversight, scrutiny, and constructive challenge to help ensure that our care and support services operate safely, effectively, and in line with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practice.

About Linda

Linda brings a wealth of healthcare leadership and management experience to her role as Governance and Compliance Lead, having enjoyed a long and successful career within the NHS. With an extensive background in managing cancer services, she has developed a strong understanding of healthcare governance, quality assurance, patient safety, and the importance of delivering high standards of care.

Throughout her NHS career, Linda held a variety of management and leadership positions, progressing to the senior role of Associate Director. Her experience overseeing complex healthcare services, supporting multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining high standards of accountability has given her valuable insight into what makes a safe, effective, and well-led organisation.

At The Good Place, Linda uses this experience to provide independent oversight and constructive challenge, helping ensure that our services remain safe, compliant, and focused on continuous improvement. She is never afraid to ask difficult questions or challenge decisions, including those made by the Registered Manager Designate, ensuring that accountability and transparency remain at the heart of how we operate.

Linda is known for her larger-than-life personality, infectious enthusiasm, and refreshingly straightforward approach. Bubbly, outgoing, and certainly not one to tolerate any nonsense, she brings both warmth and a healthy dose of honesty to the team. Outside work, Linda loves socialising, spending time with others, and making the most of any opportunity for a good conversation and a laugh.

Linda's Responsibilities

Linda is our Governance and Compliance Lead, responsible for providing independent oversight, scrutiny, and constructive challenge to help ensure that our care and support services operate safely, effectively, and in line with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practice.

Drawing on her extensive NHS leadership experience, Linda works closely with the Registered Manager Designate to monitor governance arrangements, review compliance, and identify opportunities for improvement. An important part of her role is providing an additional layer of accountability, ensuring that management decisions, operational practices, and standards of care are appropriately reviewed and challenged where necessary.

Linda's direct and practical approach helps promote an open, transparent, and accountable culture where concerns are taken seriously, lessons are learned, and continuous improvement is encouraged. While the Registered Manager Designate retains responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service, Linda provides valuable independent scrutiny to help ensure that our commitments to safety, quality, and person-centred care are consistently upheld.

In her role, Linda's responsibilities include:-

  • Providing independent governance oversight and scrutiny of the Registered Manager Designate's performance and decision-making;

  • Monitoring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and care quality standards;

  • Reviewing internal audits, quality assurance activities, and compliance monitoring arrangements;

  • Identifying areas of concern, challenging poor practice, and recommending corrective actions;

  • Monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of service improvement plans;

  • Reviewing safeguarding arrangements, incidents, complaints, and lessons learned to identify areas for improvement;

  • Providing an additional point of oversight for concerns or complaints involving the Registered Manager Designate;

  • Supporting the development and review of organisational policies, procedures, and governance frameworks;

  • Promoting openness, transparency, accountability, and a positive learning culture throughout the organisation;

  • Providing independent advice and constructive challenge to support safe, effective, and well-led care services.
